sacred music tours

DMA, Organ Performance, MMA, Sacred Music & Organ, BS in Music Education & Organ

Dr. Jason Keefer is a distinguished educator, and sacred art music curator whose work bridges the worlds of academia, classical music, and cultural travel. He is the visionary behind Sacred Music Tours, a luxury boutique travel experience designed for those who seek beauty, meaning, and flexibility in their journeys.

In addition to developing these exclusive tours, Dr. Keefer serves as Professor and Director of Sacred Music at the Pontifical College Josephinum—the only Roman Catholic college and seminary in the United States with pontifical status. There, he manages a comprehensive musical formation program designed to help the future clergy, in theory and in practice, implement quality sacred art music in parishes across the nation.

Dr. Keefer is also the Founder and Director of the Sacred Music Institute of America, an innovative online institute that offers training, mentorship, and various certification options to church musicians. Established from the ground up, the Institute provides college-level depth combined with parish-level practicality, supporting clergy and musicians through personalized study in voice, chant, choral conducting, organ, service playing, and improvisation. In addition, the Institute offers more than a dozen courses pertaining to sacred music. Dr. Keefer’s work through the Institute has revitalized sacred music programs in rural and urban parishes as well as cathedrals—empowering music and choir directors, organists, cantors, and clergy with tools that honor tradition while addressing today’s pastoral needs.

With degrees in Organ Performance, Sacred Music, and Music Education and decades of experience as a performer, a musician in both Protestant and Catholic churches, and an educator, Dr. Keefer brings a deep respect for tradition and a curious spirit to every itinerary—though he is not in front of the tour with a megaphone. Instead, he is a gracious host and musical companion—offering insight when it adds resonance, and stepping back to let the traveler’s personal journey unfold. He is there when needed, sharing the context on sacred spaces, historic organs, and composers when it enhances the experience. The tours he designs work for both the travelers who prefer a lot of structure and everything planned, and the ones who love the freedom to choose and explore certain areas more deeply.

Inspired by his own travel style, the tours are crafted using his unique “Freedom in Form” philosophy: offering a thoughtfully structured foundation each day, along with a rich palette of flexible options for travelers to explore in their own way. Whether it’s attending a private choir rehearsal, taking a contemplative moment in a chapel, or joining a behind-the-scenes organ demonstration at a historic cathedral, guests can shape their own experience from a place of informed freedom.

Sacred Music Tours reflects Jason’s own love of meaningful travel: refined, immersive, and inspired by centuries of beauty. He invites travelers not just to visit beautiful places—but to enter into them with intention, inspiration, and a sense of awe.
